Provides education and support for Asthma, Allergies, Chronic Respiratory Disease (Emphysema, Bronchitis, COPD, and Black Lung).   Offers tuberculin testing, education and support of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), Flu inoculations, and Anti-tobacco programs (smoking cessation, smoking hazards).

Anti-Tobacco education and Support

1:1 counseling, education and support to Quit tobacco.  Educational anti-smoking material is provided for area families and students.  Distribution of literature at health fairs, health promotions and educational sessions.


Asthma Support and Education

Educate families and children on how to manage asthma.  Programs include: Annual Asthma and Allergy Workshop, Easy Breathers Asthma Day Camp, East/West Athlete testing, and asthma testing within the local school system for both elementary and secondary levels.  Host seminars to educate teachers, nurses, coaches and daycare providers involved with asthmatic children/families.

Chronic Respiratory education

Provide education to the community about this little know disease(s).


Flu Inoculation
Provide Flu inoculations to high-risk groups in Blair County, including, residents 55 and over, adults and children with long term heart and lung problems, and asthmatic patients.  Private companies served upon request.

SIDS Support and Education

Serve as a liaison between SIDS parents, the coroner, and public health officials.  Telephone counseling for SIDS and monitor parents.  Offer parent support meetings.  Provide educational programs for nurses, fire and police officials, funeral directors, clergy, and all interested community groups.

Tuberculosis Testing

Testing via the Mantoux method is administered for food handlers, administration and daycare providers, and care providers at nursing homes according to city health regulations.  Testing is available to the public and private companies and organizations.

Cribs For Kids
Provide education and a safe sleep environment for children less than one year targeting low-income families.  Education provided to any parent, grandparent in need of a safe sleep environment for their child in Blair County.  Educational materials, Cribs, and sleep sacks regarding safe sleep for infants are provided to families.
