Agency Type: Non-Profit The center is a non-profit tax exempt community based organization. Non-residential in nature. Programs are consumer controlled, accessible to the public and focusing on the individual. CILSCPA stresses the importance of utilizing community resources in meeting independent living needs in South Central PA. The Center Provides services to people with disabilities and their families in Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Huntingdon, Indiana, and Somerset Counties. CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING OF SOUTH CENTRAL PA CILSCPA provides services such as Independent Living skills training, accessibility consultation, advocacy, housing and data referral, and information and referral services. CILSCPA provides services and programs which help people with disabilities take control of their own lives. Services are also available for the families of people with disabilities. STATEWIDE ACTION TEAM (SWAT) This program is to establish, implement and maintain an effective communication network within the Center's seven county service area. This network will work in conjunction with other similar networks statewide on issues which affect people with disabilities. This project is done in conjunction with the Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC). REGIONAL ADVOCACY GROUP This group will assist the Center's Civil Rights Specialists in establishing and maintaining a communication network throughout CILSCPA's coverage area. The group will assist other networks locally, statewide, and nationwide advocating for or against issues of concern to people with disabilities and their families. INTERPRETERS FOR THE DEAF REFERRAL SERVICE This service provides information to anyone or any agency, organization, club, etc. who is in need of locating a sign language interpreter.
